Josh Sargent a hot topic in Gladbach - Low fee thanks to Werder's relegation?
After Werder Bremen's relegation to 2.Bundesliga, US men's national team striker has become a likely candidate for a transfer. One candidate, according to a report by ESPN last month, is Borussia Mönchengladbach. The US report hinted that several Bundesliga clubs are interested in the striker. Bild, however, highlighted in a report today that Sargent is a primary target for the Foals.
The German paper wrote that Sargent, who has scored seven goals across all competitions last season, is a hot candidate for sporting director Max Eberl. Werder Bremen have to generate money after being relegated to the second division and are under pressure to sell the American as Sargent's contract expires next summer.
With that in mind, Sargent could be available for less than his market value, which is €9 million. Sargent will receive a new market value on Wednesday Jun. 9 as part of the Bundesliga end of the season market value update.
